From "Top Eight" to Top of My Class: My Coding Comeback

Into the Unknown:

Growing up, I always loved computers. I remember when we got our first desktop computer.

It was BIG. It was BULKY.

It was sooooooo cool. It was ours.

I played every day on that thing. I lived for KidPix Studio, Dig Dug, and Frogger.

In middle school, many, many moons ago, I took my first keyboard class. I went to Rollings Middle School of the Arts,  so of course everyone always thought I meant piano. But no, I mean a typing class.

Part of our curriculum was to set up and maintain our myspace page. And thus, my I began my trip down the rabbit hole known as coding. I remember we always tried to compete with our classmates to see who had the best page. I spent many hours trying to come up with the best layout. The music, the background, the text and images. Everything had to be better than the best. And if you had a myspace page, you may remember, you were considered the best if you made it to your friends "Top 8."

Oh the drama myspace caused. *nostaligic sigh*

As a high school student, I remember going to Computer Programming class. It was one of the coolest classes I have ever taken. I delved just a bit deeper into coding.

And then I graduated..... and stopped coding. I lost my drive. I got my first Facebook page and no longer did you have to code your page. No longer was the need to keep it up. And so, coding became a thing of the past for me.

Fast Forward Icon

Fast forward 18 years....

My mother came to me with a proposition: to take over the website for our church. I said, "eh, why not? Gives me something to do" As I started working on the website, I realized something. I know some of these codes. I can make this site even better. I then decided I wanted to know more. And began researching coding.

One day, I came across an ad for Maestro AI University. Why not? I signed up and got approved. And here I am. About to start Day 1. I want to become a better programmer. I want to be my best.

Tomorrow is the beginning of my comeback!

My name is Alisha, aka Ari. Join me in the code vortex.
